Tanya has been a wonderful Afrikaans teacher. I came to these classes wanting to improve my language abilities, especially speaking. I'd taken Afrikaans as a subject at school but never had the confidence to actually use it, and apart from a few sporadic interactions over the years, I hadn't put it to much use since. My goal in working with Tanya was to build that confidence and finally start using the language in practice. What I've really appreciated is how Tanya began with the basics but then adapted the lessons to my pace as it picked up, tailored the content to my work and interests, and built in a strong spoken component throughout.
