About Marie
I wear many hats in my life, as I am a school administrator, board member of a non-profit, musician, and a lifelong learner. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biological sciences, and have worked as a science and math teacher, and a school administrator for almost 10 years. I have taught many students on the Autism spectrum and with various learning differences, such as ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc. I currently serve in an administrative role where I support teachers with how to best serve their students' needs, while also teaching science classes. I always loved teaching and working with students to help them not only understand what they are learning, but to master the concepts and skills for their present and future.

My experience with teaching has mostly been in a one-on-one environment, where I teach one student at a time. I have developed strong skills in creating individualized lessons for grades 6-12 that meet the academic and social/emotional needs of my students. I am able to break down the material in a way that helps the students understand in their own unique way. The way I conduct a lesson plan is as follows: I do: Teach them the curriculum using multiple modalities, whether it's articles, images, demonstrations, lab experiments or presentations We do: The student and I will work together by checking their understanding of the material by guiding them through the process, whether it is step-by-step math problem, or filling out a concept map together. You do: After the student has demonstrated their knowledge of the concepts, they will complete independent work and apply the material they have learned.
