About Soz
I am a pharmacy student. My degree mainly composes of chemistry and I have also done A-Level chemistry and very much enjoy the subject. I hadn't taken lessons for GCSE maths as I lived abroad at the time and was studying in an international American school, but what I can say is that with 1 month of revising for my GCSE maths exam I managed to receive a 7.
I do not have much professional prior experience when it comes to tutoring other than tutoring my friends and younger sibling, but I can confidently say than anyone I've helped prepare for an exam has done well and recieved a minimum of B.

My method when it comes to teaching depends on the subject. For maths, I first focus on the student understanding the formula and concept and knowing how to manipulate it, as I know from my own teachers and personal experience that once you master this part the rest is just making sure to remember this. So after learning about the formula, it then goes down to practise, practise, practise and going over every single mistake to see why they went wrong to prevent it in the future.
For chemistry, it is all about understanding the concept. This would in knowing the technical terms and definitions, but also explaining it to the student in metaphors they'd understand and grasp. The best way to know if someone has learnt is if they can explain it back to you. So once the student can do that then it comes down revision and exam techniques, especially since with A levels the wording is just as important as the knowledge. This part depends on finding out what works best for the students as some find it best to revise using mind maps, others using flashcards..etc. Also, most importantly going over multiple past papers and finding ways to prevent any mistakes in the future.
