About Sofia
I started teaching the violin when I was seventeen years old. Since then, I've been teaching a four years old, two kids, and several amateur players. I've recently started working as a violin teacher in a Guildhall music service center and in a school in Islington, building experience in group teaching. The kids I taught got accepted in the amazing "JuniOrchestra" of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, in Rome, and I am so happy that they kept practising and playing the violin although I flew to England to complete my music education. Some amateur students are happily undertaking ABRSM exams.

In these years, I realized that I enjoy teaching the violin a lot. I usually divide my lessons in three parts: 1) warm up and technique, 2) repertoire and musical skills, 3) duets and fun. This division is absolutely not rigid, and it changes depending on what the student needs. I think that teaching is not just about the violin, but about the music itself, and that the whole learning process, both physical and mental, is strictly connected to a personal and human growth. To explain better, the lessons could cover: rythmical patterns, different practice methods (eveyone is different!), ear training, music research and understanding related to everyday life. All of this is immediately applied to violin playing and practice.

Sofia is a colleague of mine and through watching her work and teach, I can say that she is one of the most diligent, patient, and empathetic teachers I have ever seen. The work she puts in for her students, even outside of the lesson is incredible. From transcribing pieces to making educational videos and papers, she really does 120%. Her student’s progress and wellbeing are her priority; I believe these to be the most important intentions behind teaching.
