About Sarah

I was on the Honor Board all four years of high school. I graduated with a 90% average.
I did a course in high school tutoring Gr 9 math, as well as I continually helped friends and family.
I completed a Bachelor of Commerce in 2015 from Mount Allison University.
I currently work full time during the week, but I am free evenings and weekends.

About the lesson

Having a form of dyslexia myself, I know first-hand everyone learns differently, I strongly believe everyone can succeed, it's whether or not you are taught in a way you understand.
I usually start by reviewing where the struggles are, and what concerns the student has.
It's important to teach what you want to learn, not just review what you already hear in school each day.

Typically, I like to do a few examples of the problem together, make sure they understand the question, and what you are trying to find, usually this takes the most amount of time as I need to rethink how I'm expressing the problem if the student isn't understanding the questions.
Then I like to have them try once themselves. We review and go from there. Did they succeed? Do we need to review a specific step, or can we increase the difficulty to a more complex problem?
