About Jose Rico

I am a professional drummer and percussionist with a Superior Jazz Degree and more than 15 years of experience across different styles: Rock, Pop, Jazz, Latin, and Flamenco.

I have been traveling, studying, teaching, and performing across different countries, including Spain, Portugal, Germany, France, Argentina, Brazil, and the UK. Music is my absolute passion, and that is exactly what I love to share with my students.

Whether you are an experienced player or an absolute beginner, I will help you achieve your goals while having a great time doing so!

About the lesson

Welcome! My goal as a teacher is simple: to help you find your unique groove, build total confidence behind the kit, and enjoy every single step of the process.

Every drummer is different, so I don't believe in rigid, one-size-fits-all methods. Whether you are picking up sticks for the very first time, preparing for official exams, or looking to master complex styles, we will build a fun and structured path tailored specifically to your musical goals.

In our online sessions, we can work on:

Building Strong Fundamentals: Posture, balance, hand/foot coordination, and clean technique (preventing tension or injury).

Groove & Musicality: Mastering styles from Rock, Pop, Funk, and Soul to Jazz, Latin (Samba, Salsa), and Spanish Flamenco Fusion.

Exam & Academic Preparation: Complete guidance for Trinity College London, Rockschool (RSL), ABRSM, or higher-level auditions and diplomas.

Playing the Music You Love: Learn your favorite tracks step-by-step with custom-written drum charts and clear PDF sheets.

How we connect:
I teach live online from my dedicated London studio space using a fast, high-speed connection and specialized low-latency audio music software so you hear crisp, natural drum sound. We can use acoustic or electronic kit setups depending on what works best for your home setup.

Let's make learning drums an exciting journey. See you in class!
