About Siyabonga
My name is Siyabonga Mokoena. I started playing drums at the age of 7. I only started taking it seriously at the age of 16, which was when I started getting a few gigs with the local band I was playing for. Started getting recognition from local artists, and after a while, I then decided to go study music performance at Central Johannesburg College where I was majoring in Jazz Drumming. I've since then done a lot of gigs both live and studio albums in different genres including; jazz, gospel, afro soul, hip hop, and neo-soul. Some of the artists I've worked with and am currently working with include; Lolo Skai(Zimbabwe), Zwai Bala, Fikile Mlomo, Phumelele Zungu, and Maleh just to name a few. I've taught a number of drummers and I am proud to see some of them making it in the industry.

If you're just starting out, or have been playing for a while; it doesn't matter, it's always important to brush up on your skill. Learn at your own pace and as per your preference (a genre of choice). If you want to get the technical and theoretical side of drumming such as sight reading and so on, or you just wanna play, whichever works for you.
I am dedicated to giving you the best of what you need, from the basic stuff such as rudiments and how to apply them to your playing, to learning the complex patterns and grooves that will land you that desired gig. Whether you're a 5-year-old or 43-year-old, you're never too young or too old to learn. Let's get groovin'
