About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring and Teaching

I start by identifying the student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning objectives. This can be done through casual conversation, specific questions, or reviewing previous work.

I focus on keeping lessons interactive, using a mix of explanations, examples, and questions to ensure active student participation.

I break down complex concepts into smaller, manageable steps. This method makes challenging topics less intimidating and helps students build confidence as they master each part before moving on to more difficult aspects.

When explaining abstract or difficult concepts, I often use visual aids to make the information more concrete and easier to grasp.

After teaching a concept, I engage the student in practicing what they’ve learned with exercises, followed by constructive feedback.

I often ask leading questions to encourage critical thinking and let the students arrive at conclusions on their own.

Depending on the student's needs, I may supplement lessons with additional resources like videos, worksheets, articles, or interactive tools that reinforce learning. Any work I may provide is guaranteed to be corrected by me and handed back with extensive feedback.

I also tend to make myself available whenever a student may have any pertinent questions they can contact me directly.

The typical length of a lesson could be 1-2 hours with a break of course.

I have left the Royal College of Surgeons with a Level 7 NFQ qualification in Advanced Therapeutic Technologies and am currently doing a Bachelors in Engineering.

I have tutored 5 students for their Leaving Certificate in the last year in the following subjects: English, Maths, Chemistry and Biology

Which is why I mainly would focus on Junior Cert/ Leaving Cert students and students in their first year of a Bachelors of Science (BSc)
