About Tori
As a tutor, I am committed to providing a professional, supportive, and engaging learning experience. With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in biological sciences, six years of research and laboratory experience, and a background in tutoring and teaching at the elementary and high school levels, I bring both expertise and practical knowledge to my sessions. I understand that science can be challenging, but I believe that with the right guidance, every student can succeed. In my science courses, I prioritize meeting students where they are by first assessing their current understanding, learning styles, and individual strengths and weaknesses. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed in science when given the right support and guidance.
I create an engaging and inclusive learning environment by incorporating hands-on activities, discussions, real-world applications, and visual aids to make complex concepts more accessible. I differentiate instruction to ensure that students who need extra support receive it, while also challenging those who are ready to dive deeper.
My teaching approach is student-centered, fostering critical thinking and curiosity rather than rote memorization. I encourage questions, discussions, and collaboration to help students develop a deeper understanding of scientific principles. I also provide continuous feedback and work closely with students to help them build confidence in their abilities.
Ultimately, my goal is to make science both understandable and exciting, empowering students to see its relevance in their everyday lives while developing their problem-solving skills and scientific literacy.
