About Sophia

T2 Tailored Tutoring's vision is that no student is left behind in the classroom. My service offers comprehensive individual tutoring by understanding the best way to teach each student. T2 adapts for you to ensure the most efficient learning process, contrary to the memorize-and-forget approach.

I have over 4 years of experience tutoring ages 10-21. Most of my tutoring is one-on-one to teach most effectively, but I have also tutored groups with success.

I am IB and SAT certified, holding an IB diploma with distinction and having completed the SAT examinations with 99th and 97th percentile scores in English and Mathematics, respectively.

With my SAT students, I saw an improvement of roughly 100-200 points per SAT category with a minimum of two months of weekly tutoring and homework completion. I also offer more intensive last-minute tutoring with varying results.

I have tutored both IB MYP (Middle Years Program) and DP (Diploma Program) students with great success. On average, my MYP students go from failing to being among the best scorers in their class, and my IB students see a 2-4 point increase out of the total 7 points per IB subject. In TOK (Theory of Knowledge), my students have gone from predicted failing to achieving a B.

I have also tutored regular level subjects with a general improvement of from near-failing to excellence, and in one case helped a student improve to near-perfect scores (90%+).

I am a native English speaker but am also fluent in French (C1) and know some Greek (B1) and German (A1). I have tutored students for whom English is a first, second, third, and even fourth language.

The core of my tutoring ethos is that I always keep in mind what it is like to be a beginner, a skill that my previous students have found to be lacking in most educators. I know what it is like to be a student and have perfected the craft, and this is what I teach to others; effective ways of remembering, learning, researching, and critically analyzing.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, the first session will always be dedicated to tailoring the student's tutoring plan: finding their learning style, identifying problem areas, and understanding exactly what needs to be learned for maximal success in school.
