About Jacob

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. I taught public school band programs for 3 years and choir for 2 years. I started music with the french horn, playing since 6th grade. I eventually worked up trumpet and percussion alongside my horn chops.

I absolutely love teaching brass and percussion, and would love to inspire any level of playing skill, from absolute beginner to seasoned veterans looking for duet practice.

If you would like to collaborate to compose music together, I also have self-learned knowledge of composition and transcription!

I first started giving complementary and elementary lessons in high school, helping my directors by taking an f horn beginner out to help them.

I have overseen several marching band camps, small ensemble performances, as well as community ensemble involvement.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Brass Pedagogy, with studies in woodwinds and percussion congruent to the teaching in the classroom.

About the lesson

I like to evaluate the current skill level and see what the student wishes in their growth rate. We then build a portfolio of music and solos, along with duet playing and even group performances. From stage fright to reducing nerves whilst performing, music is not necessarily the only thing being targeted in our sessions.

I have worked with grades 6-12, but would be willing to start a student as early as elementary school. No age limit.

Please be patient with yourself and ask it of your educator. F Horn is difficult, it is demanding, but it is magnificent. You cannot give up or shoot yourelf down because you missed a partial or slurred incorrectly. Find someone compassionate, patient, and willing to work a long while to build the muscles and the skill.

$30 - 50 / half hour, depending on skill level

$50 - 80 / hour, depending on skill level

Any lesson longer than an hour will be $100 minimum and have a $200 maximum
