About Sophia
I am a current freshman at the College of the Holy Cross. I have always taken an interest in the STEM fields, and I am pursuing a major in Chemistry. I received a 4 on the AP Chemistry exam taken in May 2023 and a 5 on AP Calculus AB taken in May 2024. As for the college coursework I have completed, I finished General Chemistry 1 with an A and Calculus 2 with an A-. I am currently enrolled in Organic Chemistry 1 and Introduction to Mechanisms of Multicellular Life.

If the student is seeking tutoring for a specific class, I typically like to teach directly to what the student is learning. Therefore, I ask that they provide me with the assignments their teacher is giving them directly. Based on those exercises, I develop my own explanation on the specific topic along with additional practice problems on it. If the student is seeking tutoring for general skill sharpening or to get ahead, I would prepare my own explanation on the topic with visuals and examples. I would start with a warm-up problem or two to assess what they know about the topic and where their areas of improvement are. I would then continue the lesson with a special focus on those areas. I would also be sure to integrate practice problems or questions that check for understanding throughout the lesson.
