About Sophie

I am a third year student studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. Before university, I studied six highers achieving 6As and afterwards went on to study both chemistry and math's at advanced higher level. In addition, I was awarded the school ‘’DUX’’ for my higher grades. I have helped younger students transitioning to secondary school as well as secondary classes in math's challenges and many STEM events. I have a passion for dance and have taken numerous dance classes for many children at all different ages and abilities. I believe that if you have a passion for something such as science or dance, you can encourage younger pupils to be inspired and enthusiastic in learning.

About the lesson

For preparation and before my lesson begins, I like to know the topic that the pupil would like to go over in the session. In the session itself, I will go over some key notes that should be mentioned, ask the pupil which areas they need particular help with and lastly, go over past paper/test questions step by step. From my own previous experiences, I like to go over questions slowly and then try them myself but everyone is different and therefore, I will work to each individual pupil's needs. Furthermore, I like to find easier ways of explaining specific areas that can relate better to the pupil and believe that this makes lessons memorable and more enjoyable. (I can teach up to SQA Higher level or equivalent)
