About Douglas

Hey y’all! My name is Douglas Blatt, and I’m a professional drummer, music educator, and UT Austin alum with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Drum Set Performance and over 15 years of drumming experience. I currently teach at The Musician’s Woodshed and Northwest School of Music, where I work with students of various ages, skill levels, and musical backgrounds.

Throughout my musical journey, I’ve performed internationally, toured with bands, and played major festivals, including ACL. I’ve also won international drumming competitions in China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, and my drumming has accumulated over 10 million streams on Spotify.

Beyond performing, I genuinely enjoy helping others learn and grow through music. Through my teaching experience, I’ve developed a patient, supportive, and adaptable approach that focuses on each student’s individual goals and learning style. I strive to create a comfortable and encouraging environment where students feel confident asking questions, developing their skills, and enjoying the learning process.

I’m based in Austin, Texas, and work with students throughout North Austin, Round Rock, and Cedar Park. My goal is to be a reliable, approachable, and motivating teacher who helps students of all ages and experience levels build confidence, creativity, and a lasting appreciation for music!

About the lesson

My goal as your instructor is to help you enjoy playing the drums while growing at your own pace, no matter your skill level!

Whether you’re just starting out, working on fundamentals, learning your favorite songs, or exploring more advanced improvisation, lessons are tailored to your goals and interests. I focus on building strong technique, good time feel, and musical confidence in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Wherever you are in your drumming journey, I’m here to help you keep progressing, stay motivated, and have fun behind the kit!
