About Zachariah

I learnt the tabla (Delhi Gharana) through the Guru Shishya tradition. My mentor and teacher comes from a family lineage of strict traditional musicians but I have adapted everything for kids raised in western cultures.

I was born in Punjab and have 7 brothers and sisters. We moved to Oxford when I was 9 years old. I now live in London with my wife and 2 teenage children.

About the lesson

My tabla course grows children's creativity, confidence and performance skills and is adapted for children raised in western cultures. It's broken down into simple steps with key milestones leading to grade 1-8.

The content focuses on identifying, reciting, clapping and playing bols at varied speeds.

Its full of enriched Indian music history, learning notes in a traditional language and looks at the influence of tabla on world music.

The exams are with the Open College Network UK and can be taken online or in person.
