About Winy roy
I am a multilingual folk vocalist, instrumentalist, and performer specializing in Bengali folk music and the traditional one-string instrument, the Ektara. Music has always been my way of expressing emotions and preserving our cultural heritage. I want to share my knowledge because I believe folk music should be passed on to the next generation in its true spirit. My goal is to help students sing with confidence, understand the soul of folk music, and develop their own unique style through heartfelt learning and live performance techniques.

I am a vocalist, instrumentalist, and folk music educator with a deep passion for sharing the beauty of Indian folk traditions. My primary specialization is Bengali folk music, and I also teach selected folk songs from different regions of India, along with Sufi, Bollywood, and regional music in a folk-fusion style.
One of the highlights of my classes is the Ektara, the traditional one-string instrument of Bengal. I teach students how to sing while playing the Ektara, helping them develop a unique and soulful style of performance. I also introduce the basics of Tanpura, Cajón, Dubki, and other folk percussion instruments, enabling students to understand rhythm and accompaniment in a practical and enjoyable way.
My teaching goes beyond learning songs. I focus on voice culture, expression, melody, rhythm, breathing, pronunciation, stage confidence, and the emotional depth that makes folk music truly meaningful. I encourage students to explore their own musical identity while staying connected to the roots of traditional folk music.
