About Théophile
I am a passionate and highly qualified tutor, with a rigorous academic trajectory in France and Quebec. My journey began with two intensive years in a Bachelor of Mathematics (Calculus, Analysis, Algebra) at university, where I acquired a mastery of the theoretical foundations. This base is consolidated by two years in the Engineering cycle in France, specializing in Mechanics and Systems Design, which allowed me to concretely apply these mathematical tools (differential equations, modeling). Currently, I am pursuing my academic excellence in a double degree at ÉTS, where I am preparing a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering. This level of study (cycle 2) demonstrates my ability to handle the most advanced mathematics (applied math, Python) and the most cutting-edge engineering methods. My commitment: I am committed to sharing this expertise with patience and rigor. My dual theoretical (Math) and applied (Engineering) profile allows me to explain not only the “how” (solving exercises), but above all the “why” behind each formula. My teaching methodology is based on conceptual clarity and focused practice. I use a digital Socratic approach, encouraging students to reason independently before providing the complete solution. This ensures deep understanding rather than simple memorization. I break down complex problems into logical, manageable steps, tailored to the student's learning pace. My techniques emphasize the immediate identification and correction of gaps, transforming errors into opportunities for structured learning.
A one-hour lesson typically unfolds as follows:
1) Quick Review (5-10 min): Check understanding of concepts from the previous session or homework.
2) Introduction of a New Concept (15-20 min): Clear explanation illustrated with concrete analogies or real-life applications.
3) Guided Problem Solving (20-25 min): The student and I work together on exercises, where I encourage them to verbalize their reasoning. I provide progressive clues rather than the answer.
4) Independent Practice and Feedback (5-10 min): The student attempts an exercise independently, followed by immediate constructive analysis to consolidate learning.
I usually teach elementary, middle, or high school students, but I can also teach math to first-year university students.
