About Jean-Yves
The beauty of mathematics is one that is actively kept secret throughout most people's education. Students are often taught to memorize formulas and step-by-step methods that only apply to very specific problems. There is often no emphasis on why these formulas work, which creates a gap in the student's understanding. As a tutor, I hope to show people that they are capable of doing math, and I want to help develop a "math mindset" that will allow them to view math from a new perspective.

As your tutor, I will work extensively to ensure you are able to develop an applicable and holistic understanding of the content. I create personalized lesson plans that fit your learning needs, and we will work together to find out what those are. What sets me apart from other tutors is that throughout my degree, I have developed a deep understanding of statistics and mathematics that allows me to explain concepts in multiple different ways using a variety of techniques. My specialities are statistics and probability, however I'd also be able to help with all levels of calculus, linear algebra and introductory discrete mathematics (proofs). With a little more time, I'd also be able to prepare lessons for high school level math and lower, such as trigonometry, geometry or algebra.
