About Michael
I am a Software Engineer for a flight simulator company with over 5 years of programming experience and a Master's degree in Computer Science. I also served as an Intelligence Analyst in the US Army, both enlisted and as a officer. Other education includes a freshman year as a Chemical Engineering student and a BS in Mathematics. I have tutored Soldiers in Mathematics while deployed to a combat zone; tutored Soldiers in Grammar and proofread their papers for distance learning and for military presentation; and I have tutored dozens of High School and College students in Algebra and Computer Science over this last year with another online tutoring platform.

First I evaluate my student(s).
Once I understand what they are struggling with I provide example problems, real-world applications of the knowledge/skill sought, and demonstrate through diagrams and analogies the concepts required to master the knowledge/skill set.
I don't restrict my tutoring to any particular grade or age. I have helped people far older than me with more work experience with programming tools and concepts that were new to them. However, for the most part, I do not tutor people who are working on a Graduate level degrees if the subject they desire tutoring in is a component to their degree.
As for lesson structure, it's a bit amorphous. Each lesson, or tutoring session, is determined by progress made in/after the last lesson and the what the student has declared they would like to focus on.
If a student is struggling with a particular problem, I will create/find similar problems and work through a few with them observing and gradually shift towards the student working the problem while I observe.
