About Sofia
I have just completed a BSc in Human Sciences at UCL, a degree that covers a variety of subjects including biochemistry, genetics, mammalian physiology, psychology and anthropology. I am currently studying a Masters in Medical Anthropology at UCL.
I speak both Spanish and English. In high school I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.9 GPA and earned an IB diploma with higher level subjects in biology, chemistry and history.
During my undergraduate degree I worked in education on several different occasions. In my first and second year I was a teacher and camp counsellor for an educational organisation in New York called Biobus. Additionally, I have worked as a private tutor in Maths and Spanish with children aged nine to ten. In these one-on-one lessons I strove to create an environment in which children were free to express themselves openly without fear of judgement. Freedom of expression and positive reinforcement proved crucial in helping to build students’ self-esteem and confidence when affronting new challenges. The students remarkable progress in a short span of time confirmed the important role of confidence in the process of learning.
I am a positive, patient and empathetic person who thoroughly enjoys working with others and helping them to achieve their goals.
