About Juan

I'm a self-taught student from Colombia with a strong interest in pure mathematics, engineering, and many branches of science. This curiosity led me to start studying on my own, so that I could go beyond simply learning the subjects and actually understand the ideas and principles behind the science I wanted to explore.

Through almost three years of continuous self-study, I have progressed through a large part of the mathematics syllabus beyond the pace of my regular classes. Along the way, I became someone my classmates could turn to when they needed help understanding a topic. I started explaining mathematics to them, and that experience made me fall in love with teaching and sharing knowledge.

What I enjoy most about education is planting the seeds of curiosity and scientific thinking in other people's minds. I don't want mathematics to remain a collection of formulae that only exist inside a classroom. I want my students to understand where those ideas come from, why they work, and eventually recognise where they can actually be useful in real life.

For me, understanding science is only the beginning. The most important part is being able to take it out of the classroom and apply it.

About the lesson

I aim to improve not only my students' skills in specific topics, but also their deep understanding of the foundations behind them. I believe that, with the power of mathematical reasoning and proofs, these foundations become powerful tools that can be applied to problems in many different scenarios.

As a self-taught student, I understand many of the misconceptions and doubts that can arise when trying to learn mathematics independently or with a tutor. Because of this, I focus on identifying and clearing up conceptual gaps, making sure that the student understands not only how to solve something, but why it works.

My lessons can last from one hour to as long as needed to achieve a genuine understanding of the topic. They are aimed at students who are struggling with a particular concept, as well as those who are simply curious and want to explore mathematics beyond what they normally encounter at school.

I offer lessons covering arithmetic, algebra, analytical geometry, trigonometry, functions, precalculus, differential calculus, integral calculus, basic ODEs, and more.

Whether you are trying to understand something that has always felt confusing or you simply want to know what lies behind the formulae, I'm here to help you make sense of it.
