About Gisell
Hi! I'm Gisell, a recent high school graduate heading into college to study engineering. I just finished AP Calculus, so everything from Algebra to Pre-Calculus is still fresh in my mind. I’ve always loved math, and I’m passionate about helping others understand it in a way that actually makes sense. As the oldest of four siblings, I’ve had years of experience teaching and supporting younger kids, which means I’ve developed a lot of patience, creativity, and flexibility in how I explain things. Over the years, I’ve also had some really great math teachers—and some not-so-great ones. From these experiences, I’ve learned what teaching methods truly help students succeed and what to avoid. I’m here to help students feel confident, not stressed, about math.

As a recent high school graduate who went on to the highest math class, AP Calculus, I tutor math from middle school through Algebra 2 with a focus on patience, clarity, and confidence-building. I’ve had many math teachers over the years, and I’ve based my lesson structure on the one who helped me learn the most—so I know firsthand that it’s an effective plan. I break concepts down into simple, manageable steps and explain them in ways that feel natural and relatable. I’ve also gained valuable experience teaching through helping my younger sisters, which taught me how to be patient, adaptable, and encouraging, especially when students feel stuck or overwhelmed. A typical session starts with a quick warm-up to review past material or homework (5–10 minutes), followed by a clear, step-by-step lesson on the main topic (30–40 minutes), where I explain, demonstrate, and walk through examples. After that, we go through practice problems together (10–15 minutes), so the student can apply what they’ve learned with my support. We finish with a short review and goal-setting for next time. Whether we’re prepping for a test, building foundations, or catching up in class, I aim to make math feel less stressful and more empowering for every student I work with.
