About HEMRAJ

I have been teaching one-to-one online mathematics classes for about 6 years, working with middle and high school students.
Mathematics has always been my strongest subject. I scored 100/100 in Grade 10 and 99/100 in Grade 12.
My academic background includes:
M.Sc. in Mathematics – University of Rajasthan
B.Ed – SGVU Jaipur
Data Science and Programming – IIT Madras
During my student years I was also involved in several academic and extracurricular programs:
Member of the National Cadet Corps
Participation in Mathematics Olympiad exams
Science Scholar Award from Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi
Selected in the Indian Air Force for technical roles
Along with this, I have appeared in several other competitive examinations over the years.
In my classes, I mainly focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind mathematics rather than only memorizing formulas.

The aim is simple: the student should understand the logic behind the topic and feel comfortable solving problems independently.
I teach through one-to-one interactive online sessions.
During lessons I often use digital tools, diagrams, and short animated explanations when a concept needs visual clarity. This helps students see how the idea actually works instead of just following steps.
At the beginning of a topic, I usually check what the student already understands. Based on that, I adjust the pace and explanation. Some students need more conceptual explanation, others need more practice and problem-solving.
So the structure of the lesson is not fixed. I adapt the strategy depending on the student’s level, gaps, and goals.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in Mathematics and Science during my school years. These subjects always felt natural to me because I enjoyed solving problems and understanding how things work. My interest in tutoring also started in school when classmates regularly asked me to explain their doubts. They often told me that my explanations were simple and helpful. That is when I realized teaching was something I genuinely enjoyed.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I mainly teach Mathematics and Science to students of all grades and levels. What I enjoy most is helping students understand topics that they once considered difficult. In Mathematics, I like algebra, geometry, trigonometry, reasoning, and problem-solving. In Science, I enjoy physics concepts, numerical topics, and logic-based chapters.

I especially like showing students that subjects are not about memorizing formulas. They are about understanding patterns, concepts, and methods. Once students understand that, learning becomes much easier.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I have always respected teachers who could make difficult topics look simple. The teachers who inspired me most were those who focused on understanding instead of memorization. They taught with patience, clarity, and logic. That approach influenced the way I teach today.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor should be patient, clear, honest, and consistent. Every student learns differently, so a tutor must adapt their method according to the student. A good tutor should also build confidence, not just complete the syllabus. Most importantly, a tutor should care about the student’s progress and make learning easier instead of more stressful.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

When I was in school, many classmates used to come to me before tests with doubts in Mathematics. Sometimes they said they had understood more in ten minutes with me than in an entire class. At that time, I did not think of it seriously, but later I understood that clear explanation is a skill. That early experience played a big role in my journey as a tutor.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

My main challenge has never been understanding the subject itself, but understanding how different students think. Some students need basics first, some need speed, some need confidence, and some need discipline. Teaching many kinds of students has helped me improve continuously. It taught me that knowing a subject and teaching a subject are two different skills.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Yes, I enjoy teaching because it allows me to help students grow. I especially enjoy the moment when a student says, “Now I understand.” That change in confidence is rewarding. Outside teaching, I also enjoy bike riding, reading books, and meeting new people.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

I have been teaching for the last six years in both online and offline modes and have taught more than 400 students individually. My teaching style focuses on understanding patterns, concepts, and logic instead of rote learning. I help both types of students: those who want top scores and those who want strong basics.

Many students have improved their marks, confidence, and speed after learning with me. Some students who once disliked Mathematics and Science later made them their favorite subjects. I believe that happens when students are taught the right way.
