The most important challenges for a math and Stat teacher are to have students gain a fundamental understanding of the concepts and intuition behind the formulas and know how and when these concepts may be applied. Another challenge is to make math courses enjoyable even for students who are mathematics averse. Through my long teaching experience and my bi-educational background (North American and European), I believe that I have developed some teaching methods and skills in order to meet these challenges.
My pedagogical approach focuses on practical and applied aspects of mathematics and statistics, while delivering, at the same time, the minimum theory necessary for a comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter and suitable for the student level to be taught to.
Les défis les plus importants pour un enseignant de mathématiques et de statistiques sont d’amener les étudiants à acquérir une compréhension fondamentale des concepts ainsi qu’une intuition des formules, et de savoir comment et quand ces concepts peuvent être appliqués. Un autre défi consiste à rendre les cours de mathématiques agréables, même pour les étudiants qui éprouvent une aversion pour cette discipline. Grâce à ma longue expérience d’enseignement et à mon parcours bi-éducatif (nord-américain et européen), je pense avoir développé des méthodes et des compétences pédagogiques permettant de relever ces défis.
Mon approche pédagogique met l’accent sur les aspects pratiques et appliqués des mathématiques et des statistiques, tout en dispensant, en parallèle, le minimum de théorie nécessaire à une compréhension complète de la matière, adaptée aux étudiants à qui j'ai affaire.
