About Enrique
I am a recent graduate of USC (class of 2018), currently a mechanical engineer. I have 2 years of industry experience and several certifications (e.g. EIT, Professional Engineer, Certified Solidworks Associate) making me qualified in my field of study. I have a year of online tutoring experience as well so I am comfortable with working online! I am really patient with students, I understand the difficulty of trying to learn new or hard-to-grasp subjects and feeling overwhelmed. Luckily, I had great mentors in my path leading me to a better overall learner so I am happy to pass that along to any student out there. I'm very versatile with my approach. I have done a practice-based approach where I organize the right problems to go through with my students based on their level of understanding, which I determine by paying close attention to the type of questions the student asks, what specific subjects they have a hard time focusing on (e.g. calculus, pre-calc, trigonometry, geometry, etc.), and their level of explaining problems to me in their own words. If I find the student having problems with fundamentals, I revert back to practicing several types of problems in the same field to build a stronger foundation for the student. If the student is comfortable with the fundamentals, I find ways to help the student recall certain specific subjects by providing small tools (e.g. the right-hand rule, PEMDAS, SOH-CAH-TOA, etc.) or connecting them to fundamentals they already feel comfortable with. If the student needs motivation, I find outside resources or applications that help provide a better picture for the student to understand the subjects. In the past, I find that students are more engaged when they can feel or visualize what they are learning, making the subject less strenuous to learn. I myself am a visual learner and have a thirst for creativity, I am a musician (pianist, guitarist, and drummer), photographer, and drawer on the side, and have used many of these fundamental subjects in my hobbies so it is not hard for me to explain how these subjects benefitted me throughout my personal life. Therefore, I am very capable of providing real-world applications to my lesson plans with the student, and I'd be happy to share my insights with you!

Details
My base rate is $20.00 per hour. Depending on the student's level of understanding, if they require more assistance in fundamentals, the rate may go up to $25.00 - $30.00 /hour for extra supplies needed to help the student better grasp key concepts. (In my experience, most students who need help with basic fundamentals need a little more attention and materials to better understand the content.) If the student requires face-to-face tutoring, we can discuss rates based on travel, and of course, meeting COVID-19 policies such as testing, and maintaining social distancing. I am more than happy to discuss in detail with anyone who has a unique case as well so please don't hesitate to reach out to me for any questions, comments, or concerns.
