About Megan
I am a friendly and enthusiastic Maths teacher trainee currently completing my PGCE in Secondary Mathematics. I have a strong passion for helping students develop their confidence in Maths and understand that every student has different strengths, challenges and ways of learning.
Through my PGCE and school-based teaching experience, I have worked with students across a range of abilities and have developed a patient and encouraging approach to teaching. I understand that students can sometimes feel anxious or lack confidence when it comes to Maths, so I aim to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning from them.
I am particularly passionate about helping students recognise that struggling with a topic does not mean they are "bad at Maths". With the right explanations, practice and encouragement, students can make significant progress.
I am reliable, approachable and committed to helping each student reach their individual goals, whether that is improving their confidence, catching up with difficult topics or preparing for GCSE examinations.
As I am currently training to become a Maths teacher, teaching and learning are at the heart of what I do. I bring both enthusiasm for Mathematics and up-to-date teaching approaches to every lesson.

I am currently completing my PGCE in Secondary Mathematics and offer friendly, supportive and personalised Maths tuition for students in Years 7–11, including GCSE Foundation and Higher Maths.
My approach is centred around understanding rather than memorising. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching to their individual needs, confidence and goals. I begin by identifying areas of strength and any gaps in understanding, then use clear explanations, worked examples and guided practice to help students develop their skills.
I encourage students to explain their thinking and ask questions, as I believe this helps build genuine mathematical understanding and confidence. As students progress, I gradually give them more independence so that they become comfortable tackling problems without relying on support.
Lessons are typically one hour, with the content tailored to the student. This could include revisiting topics they find difficult, working through GCSE-style questions, preparing for upcoming assessments or developing exam technique.
As a Maths PGCE trainee, I have experience teaching mathematics in a secondary school environment and working with students of different abilities and learning needs. My aim is not only to help students improve their grades, but to help them become more confident and capable mathematicians.
My lessons are suitable for students aged approximately 11–16, from those who need help building their foundations to students aiming to achieve the highest grades at GCSE.
