About Izzy
I am in my mid-thirties, but can still recall the names of my math and science teachers from high school. I remember pivotal conversations and check-ins that teachers took the time to have with me.
I also remember the awful teachers.. you know the ones that leave you feeling discouraged, disengaged and treat learning like it's nothing more than rote memorization. BORING!
As a kid, I actually loved math. Mainly because my teachers took the time to explain it to me in a way that clicked and supported me. Not because I was some math genius or a stellar academic, but because I had someone who cared enough to get to know me.
I believe learning should be embodied, engaging and fun! No more sitting with your brain on overload enduring a painfully boring lesson. Learning is challenging for everyone by nature, but it is also one of the most rewarding things in life! In the age of AI, I believe the skill of actually learning is more vital now than ever before.

I am specialized to work with neurodivergent populations using a sensory integrated approach that caters to the strengths of the individual. For over 5 years I have learned to better support children with ADHD, generalized anxiety disorder, developmental delays, and the ASD spectrum.

As a BSW level social worker, I understand child development and systems theory. We are whole people carrying many roles in our lives that all take part in how we show up in the world.

I specialize in working with elementary aged students but can teach through High school in Math, Science, English, and History. However, having received a liberal arts style education throughout my life, I can teach high level lessons on a variety of subjects. I have a BSW and MSOT which lend towards Science (specifically Biology and Human Anatomy) and the Behavioral Sciences (Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology).
A first tutoring session with me looks like:
-Completing a self-evaluation where I get to learn about your learning style, your strengths, your sensory profile, what you enjoy, and your performance review of where you're at with your current goals. I want to understand what is and isn't working and how I can best support you.
- Creating an organization system: setting measurable goals, creating systems to help support you to meet those goals, and developing an outline for our time together.
- Lesson plan: Let's dive in so you walk away from our very first session already feeling more hopeful and confident about learning.
