About Chu
Hi, I’m Chu! I enjoy helping students understand math more deeply and build confidence in their problem-solving skills. I studied math at the college level with a 4.0 GPA, and earned a 5 in AP Calculus. I also scored a 790 on the math section of the SAT, and have experience helping students improve their SAT scores. I’m a patient, supportive tutor who explains ideas clearly and adapts to students' needs. Whether you’re catching up, keeping up, or getting ahead, I’m here to help.

My lessons are designed to make math clear, engaging, and less stressful. I explain concepts step by step and focus on the ‘why’ behind the math — so students not only know how to solve problems, but also understand the ideas deeply.
I encourage students to think out loud and ask questions, since active problem-solving builds confidence and long-term memory. We’ll do lots of practice problems, but always at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.
Because I’m close in age to many of my students, I still remember what it’s like to sit in math class with both great and not-so-great teachers. I make sure lessons are responsive, encouraging, and adapted to each student’s level and learning style.
