About Daniel
Hi! I'm Daniel — a full-time physics teacher with years of experience helping students feel more confident in math and science.
I currently teach high school physics and have taught middle and high school students across New York for the past 5 years. Before that, I was a physics major at the City College of New York, a teaching assistant for college-level physics, and a math instructor at private learning centers in New Jersey and New York.
As for Daniel, the person: besides being an Ecuadorian soccer geek who loves to shout Spanish profanities at a TV whenever my teams play, I love playing video games, biking around the city, and playing pool.
As a student who struggled with math and science in middle school and high school myself, I know firsthand that all it takes for somebody to befriend STEM subjects is a friendly and patient instructor who faces a student's discomfort towards the subject rather than the student itself.
Basically, by the end of my work with my students, if they're not nerding out about STEM with me, they tend to be more confident about their ability to face math by themselves and more open towards numbers being not so unfriendly!

By default, my programs will tend to have a two-step approach: we first tackle math fluency of prerequisite subjects and then we tackle a given concept! I always like to work with customized worksheets to cater specific skills in each subject.
Homework completion, special assignments, and time constraints are always factors, so I always work on a case-by-case basis to best serve the student's needs.
For my math students, I have expertise teaching any subject in a K-12 learning plan. I am fortunate to have worked with an extensive array of students: from help with simple counting and multiplication to the quadratic formula and derivatives!
For my physics students, although I only have experience teaching introductory calculus based physics (this includes AP physics 1 and 2), I am very well versed with more advanced topics and would be glad to explore teaching them.

Perfect! Helps clarify concepts, goes at the pace I need, and always checks if anything needs to be adjusted. Great tutor!
Perfect! Expansive knowledge of the topic & very professional!
Perfect! Daniel was a great tutor and our daughter really enjoyed working with him! He really helped her feel much more comfortable with her Algebra. Thanks Daniel!
- Jordan did great! She is far from struggling and all she needs is some more practice to ace her tests with exponentials.Daniel's response :

Daniel has a natural ability to teach very complex topics in a simple way; I would say that this is his main plus as a tutor. He has a passion for what he does. He loves to see his students accomplish what they had problems with before working with him. Highly recommended!!
Daniel was super helpful in physics and made the class very fun and engaging! He helped tutor me while I was part of a different program and struggled with difficult physics problems and concepts.
Best TA I've had! Super patient and helpful
I took Daniel's intro to physics class at the CCNY STEM institute last year. I seriously couldn't think of a more enthusiastic and helpful tutor and TA than Daniel. The way he talks of the topic just makes you wanna learn more. We would stay online after tutoring and he would talk about quantum physics with us. I wanna be a mechanical engineer but Daniel for a minute made me consider switching to physics. He even had this cringe but funny Spotify playlist called Mr. Kapoor physics bops to play in class during the breaks. It had songs that students could add to and we would rickroll each other. He just would make things fun. I hope he teaches the whole class by himself one day because the kids taking him would love it! Whatever price he's asking for tutoring I honestly promise it's a steal!
As Daniel's high school physics instructor, part of my class had students explain a concept to the class in their own words. Daniel tended to be a quieter figure but once he stepped in front of the class his demeanor changed, he gained an enormous amount of confidence, and explained buoyancy and Archimedes' principle with elegancy and poise. That day, I pulled Daniel aside and told him his creativity when explaining a subject would make him a great instructor one day. I was excited but unsurprised to hear his career has so far led him to be an excellent tutor and a brilliant academic.
Dan helped us get our Jordan into Rutgers. Besides raising his grades and helping Jordan get great SAT scores, when we asked Dan about college admission tips, he spent extra time to advise us and even offered his admission essay and very useful writing guidelines! He's a gem of a tutor and always goes the extra mile. Our dog Picasso misses him.
Daniel is your best choice for a tutor if you are looking for someone patient, knowledgeable and friendly. Maths can easily be confusing, but he will take the time to make sure you understand the concepts and logic behind the topics with which you need assistance. He's resourceful when providing examples and attentive to make you comfortable with expressing doubts and questions.
Daniel is an excellent tutor. We had him on Varsity tutors and once the hours expired my daughter insisted we hired him privately. Very patient and good with kids.
