About Olivia
Hi—I'm Liv, a DPhil candidate in Biology at the University of Oxford. I’ve taught in both classroom and research settings (including high-school maths, coding instruction, and undergraduate research teaching), alongside several years of one-to-one support for students with very different goals and learning styles. I’m passionate about making education feel accessible and helping students build confidence, especially those who have been made to feel that academic success or university “isn’t for people like me.” I bring a calm, encouraging energy, high standards, and a genuine love of explaining complex ideas clearly.

With several years of experience in both private tutoring and high-school teaching, I work with students of all ages on writing, maths, science, and research or experimental design. I can provide support in a wide range of writing tasks and genres, including essays, scientific papers and grant applications, as well as maths at all levels, from foundational topics to algebra and calculus. I have a strong background in zoology and natural sciences, and I am currently getting my PhD in Biology, where I study ecology, evolution, and conservation. My approach emphasises strong conceptual understanding, clear structure and transferable skills, whether students are preparing for exams, strengthening coursework or building long-term academic confidence. Lessons typically last 60 minutes and combine clear explanation, guided practice and targeted feedback. I work with learners from primary school through university level.
