About Isla
I discovered my passion for mathematics through the joy of solving challenging problems that initially seemed impossible. This led me to pursue an M.Sc in Mathematical Analysis, where I studied algebra, geometry, data interpretation, and modeling. Over 11 years of teaching, I have guided students across all levels—from elementary school math to middle school math, algebra, geometry, and SAT math—helping them build confidence, skill, and a strong analytical mindset. I teach with clarity, patience, and adaptability, using visual examples, structured explanations, and real-life analogies to make abstract concepts tangible. I encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and independent problem-solving, creating a supportive environment where learners thrive. Outside the classroom, I stay engaged with mathematical literature, teaching strategies, and innovative educational tools to enrich my lessons. Watching students move from hesitation to confidence and develop a genuine appreciation for mathematics is deeply rewarding.

Mathematics becomes accessible and rewarding when learners understand the reasoning behind each concept. I begin lessons by reinforcing elementary school math, such as basic arithmetic, patterns, and visual problem-solving. From there, we progress to middle school math, including integers, fractions, ratios, early algebra, and introductory geometry, always focusing on conceptual understanding. Step-by-step explanations, guided examples, and real-world applications help learners build confidence while developing logical thinking.
Intermediate lessons introduce linear equations, coordinate geometry, functions, multi-step problem-solving, and analytical reasoning. I also incorporate SAT math strategies, emphasizing time management, shortcut techniques, and efficient problem analysis. Students learn to apply concepts systematically, strengthening both reasoning skills and confidence in approaching complex problems.
Advanced lessons cover advanced algebra, geometric proofs, data interpretation, and modeling. Students practice analyzing multiple solution paths, explaining reasoning, and developing independent thinking. My teaching approach emphasizes clarity, encouragement, and structured support, ensuring that learners gain both mastery and confidence in mathematics.
