About Ewan
My love for mathematics began with a fascination for how abstract ideas can explain real-world systems with surprising precision. This curiosity led me to earn an M.Sc in Pure Mathematics and Analytical Methods, where I explored deeper mathematical structures and advanced problem-solving approaches. Over the past 11 years, I have helped students overcome fear, confusion, and frustration by providing clear explanations and steady encouragement. Teaching mathematics has shown me that success is possible for every learner when lessons are supportive and structured.
My teaching style is concept-focused, patient, and motivating. I break down difficult topics into manageable steps, ensuring students understand the reasoning behind each solution. I encourage questions, celebrate progress, and help learners build confidence through consistent practice rather than pressure.
Outside tutoring, I stay connected with mathematics through continued study, problem-solving research, and exploring applications in science and technology. Teaching maths is deeply rewarding because I witness learners transform uncertainty into pride. My goal is to help students trust themselves and succeed with long-term mathematical strength.

Mathematics becomes far less intimidating when students begin to see it as a clear language of patterns and reasoning rather than a collection of confusing formulae. In my lessons, I guide learners through algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus foundations, and statistics with a calm and supportive approach. I focus on building deep understanding, helping students recognise why methods work instead of relying on memorisation. Each session is designed to create clarity step by step, using examples, guided practice, and explanation that feels approachable. My goal is to help students experience maths as something logical, learnable, and even enjoyable.
Lessons are always adapted to the student’s level. Beginners build strong foundations in arithmetic, fractions, equations, and number confidence. Intermediate learners strengthen algebraic reasoning, graph interpretation, geometry proofs, and exam-style problem strategies. Advanced students focus on calculus applications, probability challenges, optimisation thinking, and multi-step analytical solutions. Every lesson includes practice, correction support, and strategy-building to ensure consistent improvement.
Maths lessons also develop patience, resilience, and independent thinking. Students learn how to approach challenges calmly and trust their reasoning. Many gain confidence not only in mathematics, but in their overall ability to solve problems. My mission is to help learners grow into capable and confident mathematical thinkers.
