About Jennifer

Undergrad Purdue ChemE; PhD. Math 1997, Indiana University, Bloomington; 4 years assistant professor at a small liberal arts college; taught 12 years more years as adjunct or TA. Taught at PWI and HBCU; loved both. Mostly teach calculus and analysis, but am also thrilled to teach math to students who for whatever reason do not yet have a good foundation in high school algebra or trig or have been taught to memorize methods. I don’t do that!

I have been pretty successful—e.g. 14 of the 17 students who finished my last developmental math class got A’s and B’s despite starting the class failing, hard tests and high expectations. They will be ready for pre-calc, calc and physics!

Also, I ADORE calculus, and you won’t find anyone who enjoys doing it or teaching it more! I would love to work with you!

About the lesson

Mathematician/writer can make math fun and lively for you. Love calculus. No memorization, since that doesn’t make sense. Logical approaches guaranteed. I seek to make your math experience one of natural logical thinking, as opposed to the “magic” and memorization of techniques typically taught in American schools. Also, I LOVE IT. A great day is when my students love it too!

In math, it can be especially fun to have a little tutoring/review/workshop type class. I would love to do that with you! For workshops and classes, price per student is 30$ divided by the number of students. So if there are 5 students it is just $6 per class!
