About Maria

Teaching has and always will be one of my favorite ways to change the world. I use content to relate to today's world. I teach students how this specific content will impact their life. I show them how every drop of our life counts and will impact our future.
I focus on the student as a whole, no matter what subject I teach, because I know that this specific subject matter is not the only thing going on in their life. I take into account their schedule, understanding they have other subjects, extra curricular activities, and sometimes have off days where they do not feel themselves. I teach the student as a whole student and not just focus in on the subject at hand. I believe if you understand the student for their entirety then they will understand and focus more on the content and use it to be successful.

About the lesson

I feel that a nurturing educational environment encourages students to thrive through the discovery of their individual purpose and talents. I believe all students deserve the right to feel empowered through their community experience in order to be successful in their learning inside and outside the classroom. My philosophies show that I am committed to students’ individual needs as a foundation to grow the community and their own personal experience in and out of the classroom.

My experience in the classroom has taught me how to apply my pedagogical philosophy into everyday life. I have not only spent time teaching but also learning. I use every experience to reflect back and learn from to improve my future and where my path takes me. My teachings are ever changing as we progress and I have a strong understanding of meeting families’ needs from my experience of teaching. Topics I have taught through a Sociological lens include, but are not limited to are research methods, income distribution and poverty, racism, race and ethnicity, gender, global stratification, and cultural differences.

A typical lesson plan will cover content through a non-traditional school setting. Content will be learned and studied through games, fun quizzes, new ways to prepare for an exam, conversational style, and modern techniques.

I have been trained and have experience creating lesson plans from Kindergarten - 12th grade.
