About Jessica
My name is Jessica, and I bring both academic knowledge and real-world teaching experience to every lesson. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology, and I tested out of college-level mathematics. I also homeschooled my son from pre-K through second grade and continue to support him academically now that he is in eighth grade.
I understand that students learn at different speeds and in different ways. My goal is to create a patient, respectful, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through mistakes without feeling embarrassed or rushed.
I take tutoring seriously and come prepared to help each student strengthen their skills, improve their confidence, and better understand the material. I focus on clear communication, consistency, and making sure students leave each lesson feeling more capable than when they started.

I focus on making math feel simple, clear, and less intimidating. My teaching style is patient and step-by-step, with an emphasis on helping students understand why a method works instead of only memorizing formulas. I adjust my explanations based on how each student learns best and use examples that are easy to relate to.
A typical lesson starts by identifying what the student already understands and where they are getting stuck. From there, we work through problems together, break difficult concepts into smaller steps, practice independently, and review anything that still feels confusing.
What sets me apart is my real-world teaching experience and my ability to simplify information. I homeschooled my son from pre-K through second grade, and now that he is in eighth grade, I still help him regularly with math and other subjects. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and tested out of college-level mathematics.
My lessons are best suited for elementary and middle school students, including students who need homework help, extra practice, support with algebra and foundational math skills, or simply a more patient explanation than they may be getting in the classroom.
