About Punya
I am an A level student studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths.I have been a maths tutor for 10 months for ages 5-16, having taught around 30 students - I have seen great improvement in their mathematical ability and willingness to learn. Having spoken to students after their SATs and GCSE exams I’ve been glad to see brilliant results and improvement from grades they were predicted to get.

As each student is different I tailor to their needs. In general, I approach each topic by giving a brief explanation on how the working out of the topic is derived from the information the students already know to ensure that they engage throughout the session. I then go on to give examples in increasing difficulty to allow students to bring in a range of techniques and enhance their application skills. I follow this through by giving them questions to have a go at and help with anything they find difficult. When I’m helping my students I try to guide them onto the right path to reach the correct answer and go into a deeper explanation with more examples if needed. I end each topic with a small quiz, and I bring up questions from previous topics to ensure that students haven’t forgotten anything or to see what needs brushing up on. I welcome students to email me with any queries they find when doing their school work - I can respond with an explanation to an extent but if it requires deeper work we can focus on this in the next lesson.
