About M Howard
I have three basic personal work goals: • Improve the lives of students with effective, empathetic, inspiring instruction. • Utilize my wealth of acquired knowledge to provide a holistic understanding of the importance of academics, the arts, identity, and community. • Continue the pursuit of a career that brings meaning to my life. Since I moved to Raleigh, NC twelve years ago, I have primarily been working as a tutor, in-person, but recently, almost exclusively online. I use Zoom to hold meetings and share documents; I have an IPEVO V4K Document Camera so that I may model problem solving in real time. I have worked with students to earn their GED and tutored four home-schooled high school students in multiple subjects to earn a H.S. Diploma through Indiana University High School Online. I have also helped over 12 students pass the ASVAB to enlist in the armed services. Lastly, I work with eleventh and twelfth graders to improve their SAT/ACT scores and college application essays. 85-90% of my students are accepted to their first-choice schools, most recently UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State, Univ. of Washington, Virginia Tech, Ohio University, and Univ. of Oklahoma.
