About Laura
As an undergraduate student, I have gone through more than 16 years of both public and private schooling. I know what it is like to not understand something everyone around you is and that can be disheartening. I will say having a hard time with a subject is not indicative of your success or desire to learn, it is part of life and unfortunately, life gets harder — however, that does not mean you can't do it. With the right resources and help, you can improve not only your education but your determination as well. It is only if you want to do it. I want to help these students not just for their education, but show them that they can do it themselves and stand on their own two feet. This can be extremely rewarding and that's what I hope to accomplish with my future students.

My teaching method is dependent on the student I am tutoring. I believe that teaching is individualistic and every student learns at their own pace, thus the way I tutor reflects that. I would like to get to know the student first to decide if we are a good mix and to hear their problem areas. I then do a diagnostic test based on the area they want tutoring in to set a baseline to what they need help on. I believe this individualistic and personalized tutoring is what sets me apart. My typical lesson plan from the baseline is first see what they can do on their own and work upon those skills using practice problems. As they say, practice makes perfect.
I can teach from middle school to introductory courses in chemistry college classes. I do request if the student is in high school and below, I also meet with the parents to see what their concerns are and make sure everyone is on the right track!
