About Josiah
I am a university student in finance and economics. I have experience as a student instructor in both macro and microeconomics. In my own math studies, I have completed through multivariable calculus and have prior experience in teaching/tutoring students in math from multiplication through calculus. Additionally, I have played violin/viola for 8 years. (Though I specialize in viola!) as well as playing piano for 6 years. I also have experience teaching music theory having completed the AP music theory exam with the highest score of a 5

I am excited to help YOU learn!
Whether you are looking for tutoring in an area causing you to struggle, need a refresher before beginning a difficult course, or want to get a head start in a subject, I am here to help and make you confident in what you are learning.
I tutor students from a wide range of levels from elementary school through undergrad in university. I love working through complex math and economics concepts with college students but equally love the joy of teaching elementary students multiplication or long division for the first time!
For math, economics and accounting sessions a typical lesson will look something like this:
- session will be 30-60 minutes
- Two approaches can be taken:
1. At least 24 hours ahead of time, send me pictures from textbook or course materials showing the topics or problems you need help with or send me a message detailing the same information.
* Note: this option will most likely allow you to learn more as I will be able to prepare for you in advance and find additional material to supplement.
2. Just show up to the session and explain what you need help with. We will go from there.
In both cases, I will spend time refreshing you on and teaching the concept. I will show a few examples, but then I will put the ball in your court and help you as you solve the problems yourself! The best way to learn is by doing!
For music theory, violin, viola, or piano lessons, we would need to schedule a 15 minute meeting first off to gauge where you are at and then develop a plan from there.
Lessons run for 30 minutes.
I use the Suzuki method books but teach students to read the sheet music rather than only memorizing.
