About Jean
I qualified with a BTech in Fine Art in 2015 before working full time as a sculptor at a Bronze Foundry for a year. I returned to studies in 2017 and completed my Masters in Fine Art in 2019. For my Masters, I produced and published the first part of my comic book series, Ma Florrie. This was based on community collaborations and historical research into Florrie Daniels, one of Western Johannesburg previously unsung anti-apartheid and community activists. This project is ongoing. During my studies, I tutored art, history and English part-time. Currently, I am a substitute high school art teacher at Saint Stithians. On the side, I manage a medieval combat, role-playing and teambuilding business called The Dahogrian Empire. I am a charismatic, energetic and curious person with a love for learning and communicating stories.

I am qualified to and have experience in teaching a wide range of ages and levels of experience, from primary school to university level. My preferred subjects are art, English writing, and history. In my experience, it is very important to make these subject both fun and relevant. For this reason, I adopt a holistic and learner-centred approach that can be applied across disciplines, making use of blended teaching environments and sources.
