About Leanne
Throughout my journey I've always had a passion to create, I've used many different mediums and techniques over the years and loved the challenge of building worlds, creating characters and environments.
I've worked on a variety of projects both personal and published, exploring the realms of concept art to children's book illustration and comics. I have had the amazing opportunity to work with many professional creatives and take part in community events, such as helping a local school create their own illustrated book. My love for illustration took me to the Kelpies prize, which gave me the opportunity to work on something i'm passionate about, Fantasy and mythology, bringing fantastical creatures and worlds to life.
I find joy in teaching others how to access their creative potential, being able to unlock, through them, new imaginative worlds. I find digital drawing a fantastic medium to learn with, as if takes away the pressure of making unintentional mistakes the 'undo button' inspires a lot of confidence in previous students and I find the medium helps to push creative boundaries that would otherwise be difficult to obtain with traditional tools.
With these lessons I hope to inspire and unleash the potential of many budding creatives, that want to build their own worlds and tell fascinating stories through their art.

- Lessons are aimed at those who wish to enter art school and begin their journey into illustration for ages 16+
- I have previous experience teaching at local schools offering digital workshops and storytelling activities.
- Students must have a basic understanding of drawing with a with a desire to learn digital methods of painting and drawing.
- Have access to digital drawing software (Adobe Photoshop, Procreate or alternative) and have access to a drawing tablet or ipad with apple pencil (or alternative drawing tool)
- Each lesson is done online via Zoom with a 1 hour time slot taking you through each stage of the drawing fundamentals. lessons are designed to help students develop their skills as well as storytelling abilities and will fit the theme of their choosing.
-The aim is to have a portfolio of work that can be used for furthering education or just picking up a new skill.
Techniques you will learn:
- How to start a design (sketching out ideas, researching, picking out the best ideas, working with composition, experimentation with different brushes and textures)
- Shading & Light ( learning how to layer your images, block in colour and apply shadows and highlights)
-Texture ( how to incorporate the feeling of texture such as fur, hair, rocks, sand , water, etc. to your design)
- Colour ( how to add colour to your design, how environments effect colour, how to emphasise colour and exploring colour theory)
- Exploring the Story ( once you have learned the technique, it's now time to apply it, this stage will be all about designing a character or environment that visually tells a story.)
- Exploring the Story Part 2 ( once you have your design its time to put it into a format, there are many avenues of illustration such as books, comic, animation or games, the type will effect the final outcome, however you should have finished piece at the end of your journey.
- How to create a Portfolio of work ( this stage will be the final part of your lessons, which will culminate everything you have done into a portfolio, this can be structured in different ways depending on the intention of use, whether is to apply to art school or for display online.
