About Marija

Hi, I’m an 18-year-old maths enthusiast looking to make the subject easier and more enjoyable for students. Having gone through the school system myself, I understand how stressful maths can feel. I am incredibly patient, easy to talk to, and genuinely care about helping my students build real confidence and succeed.

About the lesson

I am an 18-year-old tutor who completed my Maths A-Level exams at Ousedale School, meaning I am completely up to date with the current curriculum and exam specifications. I teach students across a wide range of ages, from primary school kids (Year 3+) right up to Year 11 GCSE prep.

My approach is highly interactive and focused on building confidence. Open communication is incredibly important to me because it allows me to understand exactly where a student is struggling and helps me guide them through the logic of how to solve it. If a specific explanation doesn't click, I don't just repeat myself—I immediately look for alternative ways and different angles to break the problem down until it makes perfect sense to them.

I previously served as a Maths Numeracy Leader at Ousedale School, where I gained a lot of experience breaking down complex mathematical problems for younger students. This experience taught me how to adapt my language and find creative shortcuts or visual memory tricks to help concepts click.

By using simple hacks and clear communication, I help students understand the patterns behind the numbers rather than just memorising them. For older students, I blend these techniques with focused past paper practice and exam strategy. I adapt every lesson to the specific areas the student is struggling with, making sure they understand the logic while keeping the lessons engaging.

My lessons typically last 60 minutes. This is generally the perfect sweet spot for Year 11 and younger students to stay highly focused, absorb new material, and practise techniques without becoming overwhelmed. However, I am completely flexible because I know that every child is different. If you want a custom structure tailored specifically to their attention span, we can always have a chat and figure out a schedule that works best for them.

I achieved a Grade 8 in GCSE Maths and completed my Maths A-Level at Ousedale School. Having been through the current curriculum myself, I am completely familiar with the specifications for Year 11 and below. I know exactly where students usually get tripped up, what examiners are looking for, and how to maximise marks on the papers. My goal is to use what I learned to help my students achieve a Grade 8 as well—or even better!

My lessons are specifically designed for students in Year 11 and below. Whether you have a child in primary school (Years 3 to 6) needing a confidence boost with the basics, a student in Key Stage 3 laying down foundations, or a Year 11 student stressing over upcoming GCSEs, I am here to help them smash their goals. I tailor the pace to wherever they are currently at, making sure the support fits their specific school year.

Hi Manisha, It was lovely teaching your daughter she has tons of potential as long as she follows the rules - she picked up quite quickly on them. I think it’s the practice she needs to do more off and being able to apply the rules she knows to complicated questions other than that she is on the right path.
