About Josh
My name is Josh Walton. I am 26 years old and live in Chorley in the north west. At A-level, I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and History, obtaining A*AAA, before completing an integrated masters (called a MMath) at the University of Manchester. Following this, I started my PhD, remaining at UoM. I am now in my final year.
Whilst researching, I have conducted lots of teaching in many areas of mathematics, including leading classes of upto 60 students. Also, I have done some private 1-1 tutoring at GCSE level in this time.

Hello! I am a final year (4th year) PhD student researching mathematics at the University of Manchester. In my time researching, I have conducted lots of teaching, including leading classes of 5-60 students on courses covering a vast array of mathematics, such as:
Linear Algebra
Entry Level Engineering Mathematics
Mathematical Problem Solving
Fundamental Pure Mathematics
I have also supported more advanced courses involving programming with Python and Galois theory.
I programme and code on a daily basis, using the programming language MAGMA - an algebra based language. I also have experience using C++ and Python.
I have tutored privately before, for students studying for their GCSEs.
My lessons are for GCSE / A-level students of all levels. A typical lesson lasts 1 hour but this can be tailored to you. Online lessons will be conducted via zoom. Face-to-face teaching could be a possibility, depending on your location.
