About Daniel

I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor of French, philosophy, economics and university admissions. I have over 10 years' experience as a university lecturer, as well as extensive experience of private tuition.
I offer tuition in any of the above subjects at GCSE or A-level, university essay writing tuition (in philosophy, politics or similar disciplines) and university admission preparation, including Oxbridge interview preparation (PPE or similar) and TARA test preparation (for Oxford/UCL).

I have taught and researched philosophy at a number of top universities (LSE, UCL, KCL, Warwick, Oxford, Chicago), teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in various different formats (lectures, tutorials, seminars, dissertation supervision) and have experience tutoring private students in French, English (as a foreign language), philosophy and economics.

I have a PhD and MPhil in philosophy from UCL, and a first-class BA in PPE (politics, philosophy and economics) from Oxford.

I speak fluent French, and spent some time living in Marseille, France teaching English in the state school system and in private tuition.

Working together with students to reach a shared learning goal is something I am passionate about, and I seek to make learning an enjoyable, rewarding and engaging experience.

Lessons are tailored to the needs, learning styles, and levels of the student.
My pedagogical methodology places the student at the centre, and aims to build lasting knowledge and understanding by engaging the student in active participatory learning. This means that instead of imparting knowledge, my lessons focus more on inviting the student to develop and strengthen their own understanding through practice, encouragement and dialogue.
