About Suvanjan
As a UC San Diego Data Science student with over two years of tutoring experience, my approach focuses on building strong conceptual understanding while also helping students feel confident solving problems independently. I have worked with students at different skill levels and learning styles, which has helped me learn how to adapt explanations and pacing to each individual. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and emphasize why concepts work, not just how to memorize formulas, so students can apply what they learn across classes and exams. A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student is currently struggling with and reviewing key background concepts. From there, we work through examples together, gradually shifting toward independent practice while I provide guidance and feedback. Based on my tutoring experience, I adjust lessons in real time to make sure students fully understand before moving on. I end each session by reinforcing key takeaways and suggesting targeted practice strategies so students continue improving outside of lessons. What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of experience, patience, and structure. Through two years of tutoring, I’ve learned how to explain difficult math and computer science concepts in multiple ways until they click. As a current data science major, I also understand the expectations of modern math and computer science courses and help students develop effective problem-solving strategies rather than just completing assignments. My lessons are best suited for middle school, high school, and introductory college students, including those taking algebra, geometry, precalculus, calculus, statistics, AP math courses, and introductory computer science or programming classes. I work especially well with students who want clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and a supportive learning environment that builds confidence over time.
