About Shanda
I work with each student to learn and identify their learning styles and create individualized, unique lesson plans that will improve the overall understanding of the subject. I am especially talented at analyzing a student's work to identify the weaknesses and errors and teach the student how to solve the problem on their own and then allow the student to complete the problems on their own until the student has mastered the task at hand.
I love to teach! It is rewarding to help someone with understanding of a subject. I like to identify where a child is lacking understanding and build on their weaknesses to give each student the ability to learn and study more efficiently and achieve results with higher test scores and overall comprehension.
I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and studied psychology with an emphasis on Child Development. I have been working with students with homework assistance since high school but as a job since college when I worked at the after school program of a daycare. In 2016, I started working independently and I have successfully taught students in the Visalia area in all grades and most subjects. Most of my students need help in math and english. I am skilled at essay writing.

I like to gauge where the student is at in understanding of the problem at hand by looking at their work and identifying mistakes in order to correct. I usually show the student how to solve a problem and show my work. Then, I ask the student to solve the problem on their own, or with my guidance if they need additional help, until they are able to solve the problem with ease and have gained full understanding of how to solve the problem.
