About Joy

Hi, Everyone! I have taught students education from preschool to college for 19 years. I hold a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology from Ashford University. I am passionate about creativity, freedom, and helping others to be successful in life. Besides managing Joy’s Jazz & Hip Hop Dance Studio and Joy’s Mixed Media Art Gallery, I use to tutor diverse students how to read, speak, and write English for different purposes at Cambly part-time.

I have been excellent in basic math, algebra, geometry, and basic statistics besides art, dance, and entrepreneurship while learning math during my school years. Even though I love math, but struggled in math sometimes because I did not always have valuable teachers that can ensure I am successful in math. However, I always find ways to understand and use effective strategies like steps to help me to solve math problems and achieve success in math. As a former student, I ended up with high grades like A’s and B’s in these classes and help others be successful in math. So, I understand that many students have struggled with math or never had valuable math teachers that help them to ensure they are successful in math. Therefore, I will love to help students to understand how math works, having confidence in themselves in doing math, solve math problems, pass exams, earn higher grades in their math courses. I believe once my students are successful and become excellent in math, they will be able to help others to be successful in math in the future. I always follow up with students' progress in their academic performances in classes.

About the lesson

I always learn about students, find out what goals they want to achieve in math, and understand how they learn education that help them to be successful in their classes. Then, students who are interested in attending my tutoring sessions sign up for this service. Next, I offer feedback on areas they need to work on while learning math during this service. It is also important I always students ask questions about anything else about math before we end the session that day. I also provide educational resources like video links to them they can use to study math for their classes.

I work with all level students from age to adult from beginner to advanced and with learning disabilities.

Students must hire someone who will show you and knows how to do something in order for them to understand how to do something like solving math problems successfully. If teachers make students do all the work without knowing how to do something, then students will not learn anything or know what they are doing while learning education. Then, let the students try to do something on their own and offer to provide feedback on their works so they know what they did right and wrong and how can they improve in their works in education.
