About Emilie
I’m a fourth-year engineering student at Cal Poly, concentrating in Biomedical Engineering. I offer tutoring in math, biology, and French for elementary and middle school students, and I’m available for online sessions. I have a strong background in math and science through both my engineering coursework and previous academic experience. I attended the Russian School of Mathematics and scored in the 98th percentile in Mathematics on the HSPT. At Cal Poly, I have completed college-level coursework in calculus, physics, engineering, biomechanics, genetics, and other STEM subjects. When tutoring math, I focus on more than simply getting the right answer. I help students understand fundamental concepts and develop their reasoning, logic, problem-solving skills, and confidence. I try to make lessons engaging while adapting explanations to the way each student learns best. I also offer biology tutoring and French speaking and reading practice. I come from a French-Canadian family and am fluent in French, so I can help students improve their pronunciation, conversation, reading comprehension, and overall comfort with the language. I genuinely enjoy working with kids and helping them reach the point where a difficult concept finally makes sense. I especially enjoy working with students who are motivated to learn and improve their skills.
