I taught Algebra I for five years before starting my educational consulting business, Haude Tutoring. In my consulting business, I have worked with students ranging from those in elementary school to college students who had not taken a mathematics class in over fifteen years. My experience with a wide range of students and content provides me with many options as far as approaches to use during sessions. As the saying goes, "You never stop learning!"

About the lesson

I believe it is important to not only understand current needs and objectives in the short and long term but also to understand previous experience with mathematics. For example, is the current year the only time that math has been a different experience when it relates to comprehension and difficulty compared to previous years? How does the student feel about math? Tutoring is a great way to achieve academic excellence, but it's crucial to remember this is a people business, not just about numbers.

I have worked with students ranging from elementary school to adults taking College Algebra that had not completed a math course in over fifteen years. The customization of sessions to meet the individual needs and objectives of each student makes working with a variety of students possible.
