About Maria
I have a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and have created and taught multi-day classes in Corporate America. I am very good at connecting with people and explaining difficult topics in a fun and easy to understand way. I am very passionate about teaching and particularly love children. I have 2 children who are both very good students. I would love to help your child succeed in school. If they can do well in Math, it opens them up to many rewarding fields.
I am a born teacher. I can not help myself really. I have been teaching since high school.
I have created course material and delivered entire training courses. I have this ability to connect with people and keep them engaged. I am also very good at explaining even the most complicated topics to someone who knows nothing about it. I think the key is to understand the topic very well myself.

First, I assess where the student is with respect to the course material. Once I isolate where they are getting tripped up, I focus on that. I find that students get more confident if they can overcome an obstacle. Once we get past the obstacle, I make sure we practice. I want to make sure its completely understood. Then we go on from there. The whole while the session is fun.
Corporate America types and the way to 2nd graders.
Studies have shown that students learn from people they connect with. I think maybe its because while you are learning, you might feel insecure about it. But if a student and teacher have trust, students feel free to ask questions and that indeed, there are no dumb questions. My advice: Make sure that your student really likes the teacher. Its not a popularity thing or a judgement. Ultimately you want your child to succeed. A teacher that can reach them, that’s the one you want.
I recently helped my daughter in Chemistry. I really didn’t remember any of it from high school. I was relearning it on the fly. But we sat there and learned it together. It was fun and very fruitful for her.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I love it when they are prepared with where in the lesson are lost. That really makes it more efficient.
